People of the PCT: Coyote & Catch Up

People of the PCT: Coyote & Catch Up

"We met Hugh and Michelle in Wrightwood at the taco party. Didn't get to talk to them much then, but from the brief time we did talk we knew they were great people. For the rest of the desert we leap frogged with them until they departed for their US road trip from Kennedy Meadows taking as many hikers as they could fit in their van with them. They are so generous and always willing to help others. They shuttled hikers when ever they could while on their road trip. We saw them again for 4th of July in Ashland. Also leap frogged throughout Oregon. Everytime we thought would be our last time seeing eachother we were lucky enough to see them again! Our final time getting to spend time with them was the end of this epic adventure! Their final shuttle ride for some stinky hikers this season was picking us up from Manning Park! Their generosity on and off trail is unbelievable and I still feel quite fortunate for getting to meet them and get to know them over the miles. If you want to see more of their adventures you can follow them @wanderingkelseys on instagram."  - Journey Man

Michelle aka "Coyote" and Hugh aka "Catch Up"

Where are you from?

Vancouver, BC, Canada

Why did you decide to do the PCT?

We are threading the needle between kids who no longer need us day to day and elderly parents who do not yet need us day to day. We figured if we were going to do it now is the time.

What has been the most challenging thing you've encountered on trail so far?

The decision to skip the Sierra. It is more disappointment but it was a challenging decision to make.

What is something you've learned so far on your hike?

People are good and willing to help for nothing in return.
