Which Bed Is Right for You?

No matter the adventure...

...we've got a bed for you!

First: Clips or Zips?

Our beds are split into two categories—Clip Beds and Zip Beds

  • Clips are minimal. They're nearly weightless, offer more versatility, are proven draft-free, and practically disappear when you're using the quilt on its own.
  • Zippers, though a bit heavier, are simply more familiar! They're a great choice for those who prioritize convenience over weight.

The Clip Beds

  • Ultralight Bed

NEW: MUSCOVY DOWN! The premium Ultralight Bed is our lightest and most packable bed, built for ultralight backpackers.

  • Light Bed

NEW & IMPROVED! The performance-focused Light Bed is our bestselling backpacking bed. It's lightweight and incredibly comfortable.

    Light Bed Double available.

  • Core Bed

NEW & IMPROVED! The Core Bed is our simplest, softest backpacking bed—a perfect balance of weight, comfort, and affordability.

    Core Bed Double available.

The Zip Beds

  • ZipBed Trek

NEW! Zenbivy’s lightest zippered bed ever. The ZipBed Trek is the go-to choice for backpackers who want the draft-free, constriction-free comfort of a Zenbivy bed, but with the familiarity and convenience of zippers.

  • ZipBed Overland

NEW! Built entirely out of our legendary soft, home-like 50D Pongee fabric, the ZipBed Overland is our most luxurious bed to date—optimized for car camping adventures.

Next: Footbox, Fabrics, and Fill

After you decide whether you want clips or zips, consider the footbox style, fabrics, and fill. Details on each can be found further down this page.

Consider Pack Size

Our lightest backpacking beds are going to pack down the smallest, while our comfort-focused beds and double beds take up a bit more space.

Clips vs. Zips

  • Clips

Our color-coded clip system is ultra-lightweight, secure, and draft-free, with a minimal loop on the quilt for bulk-free versatility and comfort when used on its own.

  • The Zenbivy Bed has been designed with both left and right side zippers to let you sleep exactly how you want to.

    Zippers

You know 'em, you love 'em, and they don't take much explaining. They're familiar, fast, and easy to use—while slightly heavier than clips, they’re the perfect choice for adventurers seeking maximum convenience.

Footbox Styles

  • Fast Footbox™

Unlike sewn footboxes that restrict your movement and do not vent, Zenbivy’s patent-pending Fast Footbox™ uses a single clip that allows it to expand for more space or narrow for more warmth.

  • Convertible Footbox

Convertible footboxes open up completely flat, providing maximum versatility around camp or at home with accessories like our Duvet Cover.

  • Fixed Double Footbox

Zenbivy Double Quilts feature a wide and spacious fixed footbox that allows you to tuck in on cold nights and still be able to naturally move your feet and sprawl or quickly "kick off the covers" if needed.

Choosing a Temperature Rating: Understanding Limit vs. Comfort

  • The Limit Rating is the temperature at which a warmer sleeper will be at their limit of comfort in a condensed position.
  • The Comfort Rating is the lowest temperature at which a colder sleeper will feel comfortable in a relaxed position.

We typically recommend using the Comfort Rating to match to the conditions you are likely to encounter.

Zenbivy Limit and Comfort Ratings assume an EN/ISO-matched mattress (R-value 4.5+) is used.

Fabrics

  • Polyester Pongee

Our legendary Pongee fabric feels like pure luxury at camp. It has a similar soft feel to a sheet you would use at home, bringing a familiar kind of comfort to camp.

  • Nylon Taffeta

Nylon Taffeta makes a great shell fabric. It's buttery-smooth and durable.

  • Pertex® Quantum

Other backpacking quilts use thin, sticky fabrics that cling to you like plastic wrap in damp or warm conditions. To maximize comfort, Zenbivy Ultralight Quilts use premium “full-dull” 10D Pertex® Quantum. Feather-light and soft to the touch, it's fabric that feels like fabric, not a trash bag.

What Is Denier?

Fabric denier (D) is a unit of measurement used to describe the thickness and weight of individual fibers or threads in a textile.

Higher denier fabrics use thicker threads, making them more durable, but heavier. Lower denier fabrics use finer threads, resulting in a lighter weight but more delicate material.

Understanding denier helps you choose fabrics suited to specific needs, balancing durability against weight and feel.

Fills

  • HyperDRY™ Down (700FP, 800FP)

Our premium HyperDRY™ down from ALLIED Feather + Down uses a natural wax-based compound to make it water-resistant. It is durable, fluorocarbon-free, and RDS (Responsible Down Standard) compliant.

  • Muscovy Down (900FP)

Muscovy down offers premium "goose-like" insulation without the goose price tag through large, resilient clusters from free-range birds, expertly cleaned with eco-friendly patented technology to deliver high-performance, hypoallergenic warmth.

  • ExpeDRY™ Goose Down (900FP)

ExpeDRY™ is the future of performance and sustainability, using a chemical-free bonding of non-toxic gold particles to the down clusters to aid in evaporation so the down dries faster and stays dry in high humidity conditions.

  • Untreated Down (650FP)

Our 650FP down is RDS (Responsible Down Standard) compliant and provides the best bang for your buck.

  • Synthetic

Built for warmer nights, tighter budgets, and personal preferences, we've used a polyester synthetic blend that's as soft as it gets. So soft in fact that you'll swear it's down!

Fill-Power Explained

Down quality is measured by its fill-power (FP), which in simple terms is a measure of the down cluster’s size. Larger clusters trap more air and are both warmer and lighter compared to lower quality down. The larger the down cluster, the higher the fill-power rating.

Fill-power represents how many cubic inches one ounce of down will occupy. If one ounce of down takes up 700 cubic inches of space, it is rated as 700 fill-power down. This means that less will be needed to achieve the same warmth as a 600 fill-power or lower down.

There are 3 different grades of down often used: 550 to 650 fill-power (high quality downs), 650 to 750 fill-power (performance downs), and 750 to 900 fill-power (premium downs—the lightest, warmest, and most expensive).
