A Quarter of the Way Thru

A Quarter of the Way Thru

June has been an incredible month on The AT.

The morning of June 1st I had officially finished ¼ of the distance from Georgia to Maine had an awesome afternoon pizza at The Quarter Way Inn. I celebrated this milestone with some of my favorite fellow hiker trash and a few days after this we all crossed the 600 mile marker - I took my first double zero (2 off trail, rest days in a row) at Angels Rest Hostel in Pearisburg, VA.

Compelled to stay for the extra day by the fact that the local fair would begin on the 9th, I convinced a group of hikers to go ride sketchy carnival rides, eat funnel cakes, and jam out to an 80s cover band. It was awesome (to say the least) but with the excitement of the Virginia Triple Crown looming to the north, it was time to head out from Pearisburg.

Rock scrambles, insane views and good company would be the soundtrack of each following day as I hiked on through the Roanoke Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains eventually reaching some well known, breathtaking view points: Dragons Tooth, McAfee Knob, & Tinker Cliffs. After a week straight of perfect moments, I now find myself relaxing in Daleville with 730 miles of The Appalachian Trail complete and I can’t wait to see what else this wild journey through the mountains has to offer.
