With Labor Day weekend just around the corner, we know you’re itching to get out for a long-weekend adventure. A few days off in the woods should give you the reset you need, and some good times in the great outdoors. An extra day for the weekend means you can push it just a little bit further into the backcountry, or, spend an extra day hanging out in the hammock or grilling. Either way, you’ve earned it. Whatever you have planned in the outdoors, there are few essentials you can bring along to make the weekend a bit better. Check out our 5 “must-haves” below.
1) S’more’s materials
This one is a no-brainer, and you might just already have it all packed up and ready to go already. The classic combo makes any outing around the fire better. If you’re looking to switch it up a bit you can substitute chocolate for peanut butter cups and prepare for one of the most delicious, peanut-buttery, s’mores you’ve ever had.2) Your Zenbivy Quilt
We recommend bringing along a Zenbivy for your Labor Day outings. Whether you’re telling spooky stories around a campfire, bagging a peak thats been on the list for a bit, or even curled up at home with a movie, you’ll be warmer and more comfortable with a wrapped up in a Zenbivy quilt. If you’re camping out of the back of your car, the Original Zenbivy bed is a good option. The quilt can be used for fire-time activities or hammock shenanigans, then still tucks in nicely when you’re ready to turn in for the evening. For more serious adventures, try our ultralight and ultra-comfortable Light quilt.
3) Some good friends
An invite definitely goes a long way towards making your weekend a blast. Friends, family, or even a canine companion is sure to make things a little more exciting wherever you get off to.
4) Games!
Let the fun begin! Turn off those cell phones and bring out the cards, board games, and lawn games, and competitive spirits. Whether your game of choice is bocci ball or 5 card draw, a few games with family or friends will improve the experience greatly. Extra S’mores for whoever wins!
5) A Camp Spot
Camp sites fill up quickly on holidays, so make sure you have one reserved in advance. Alternately, you cam take a trip further our and utilize public lands, dispersed camping backcountry zones, or even your backyard.
