Locate your height on the ruler below to see which size quilt and sheet/mattress we recommend for you. Ideally, you'll want to fall somewhere in the middle of the range. If you find yourself in the yellow, you'll probably want to size up for the most comfortable fit. Please note that the chart below is based on the average weight for each height. Also note that if you are an "active" or "wide" sleeper, you may want to consider sizing up to allow yourself more space to sleep naturally.
When in doubt, size up. Unlike mummy bags, there is no thermal disadvantage to a larger size Zenbivy Bed because it is always free to wrap snugly around you. Bigger is always more comfortable and just as warm. Questions? We're happy to help. Send us an email with your height, weight, and general sleep style and we'll help you find the right size for you.
The versatile, minimalist design of a backpacking quilt makes it an ideal choice for anyone wanting to reduce the weight and bulk of their sleep system. The zipperless Zenbivy Light Quilt is lightweight and compact but prioritizes both comfort and adaptability. Between our super soft 20d fabric, convertible draft-free zipper-less foot box, carefully engineered baffle system, and pure semi-rectangular shape, we’re certain our Light Quilt is not only the most versatile quilt on the market but the most comfortable as well. Premium 800 fill-power HyperDRY™ down rounds out the package and delivers a final quilt that is weight competitive with much more expensive offerings while delivering on Zenbivy’s promise of maximum comfort. From tent to hammock, hostel to home, the Light Quilt’s got you covered.
Includes the Light Quilt and a large mesh bag for long-term storage.
The Kylie-curve™ - The Kylie-curve™ is a 3/4-length baffle-backed drawstring on the top edge of our quilts. Unlike traditional backpacking quilts that have a drawstring spanning the entire width, the shortened cord length on the Light Quilt cinches only the center portion, so it softly seals around your neck but doesn't shorten the overall usable width of the quilt. By cinching only the center, either edge of the quilt is left loose to drape at your sides to block drafts as you move and turn over.
Thermally Mapped Baffles — We designed our quilts to maximize thermal efficiency, distributing down to provide the most warmth where it’s needed. Smaller baffles minimize down-shift, vertical baffles around the upper body prevent down from sliding, and horizontal baffles on the top of the foot box keep down from shifting with foot movement.
Zipperless Versatility - The patented zipperless foot box design is every bit as secure as a zippered foot box, without the weight of zippers. It forms using a few simple hooks and loops, with a snap and a drawstring to easily regulate your sleep temperature. Sinch the bottom closed on cold nights, or loosen it to allow a cool draft or unhook it completely to use it flat like a blanket on warmer nights.
Purely Semi-Rectangular - The Light Quilt is purely semi-rectangular. This not only provides full coverage when used flat but completely eliminates the common hour-glassing pinch point issue that other quilts have when the foot box is formed. Rotate and move freely at night without the quilt grabbing and twisting around.
Quality Materials - The Light Quilts are filled with premium 800 fill-power HyperDRY™ down. This down uses a natural wax-based compound to make it water resistant. It is durable, fluorocarbon-free, and RDS (Responsible Down Standard) compliant.
Unconventional Fabric - Most ultralight quilt makers shed weight by making their fabric a thin and clingy 10d. We opted to find clever ways to ditch ounces while keeping the fabric a very soft, comfy, and durable 20d. 20d fabrics are much softer than traditional ultralight technical fabrics while only being a fraction heavier.

The quality and the weight seem amazing. I’m new to “quilts” and there isn’t much information on your site for me to figure out how it all goes together and works. Flying blind here, but leaving tomorrow on a 12-day backpacking trip. We’ll see how it all works!
Spent two nights for my first test of this system at Great Sand Dunes NP. The first night (this is the end of May) saw over 1.5 feet of snow and a nearly collapsed tent. The second night it was in the low 20s out on the Dunes. So I was able to test the system (25 degree light sheet and quilt) in conditions I hope not to encounter again!
The sleep system performed flawlessly, kept me both warm and dry even while my tent dripped condensation on the snow day. On the colder night I was able to sleep with minimal layers and stay warm. Comfortable for this side sleeper, and some of the best sleep I've ever had in harsh weather in a tent. A definite winner light to backpack for miles, and easy to pack in the mornings. And it dries quickly during the day.
After couple of months of thinking it over and some research done as what sleeping systems are on the market I decided to spend some more money and buy Zenbivi Light bed + Light mattress+ pillow. And I am happy camper since! I tried it in tent (tarp underneath it) in temperatures around 0°C and wasn´t cold at all. And I love that this sleeping system enables me to shift position throughout the night as that was the main reason of buying it. Having some age related issues with my back I wasn´t able to sleep in mummy bags anymore as I need to change position frequently to keep my back happy and functional these days:-)...that pretty much spoiled my hiking and camping experience for a while... I am so happy to have found this sleeping system! I can toss and turn as much as I want and still stay warm, love it! Thank you, guys!
Awesome! So glad to hear you're loving it, Linda. Happy camping!
zen bivy light 2020
I've got about 30 nights in this set up, mostly in the high sierra but also some joshua tree(desert) winter camping. I transitioned from a sleeping bag to a jacks r better 40F quilt and an ancient thermo rest in 2018 but found myself sleeping cold even when wearing all of my gear. I decided it was time to drop a few nickels on something new. The zenbivy light has been the most comfortable setup I've had in many years. I didn't buy the pillow but use two cheap inflatables, one for my knees and the other for my head. I've coupled it with both a one man tent and a tarp and bivy set up. In both cases I was comfortable and dry in high sierra storms. My only criticism is calling this a "bivy" when it's not, and the dirth of youtube technical reviews.
So glad to hear you're loving the setup and that it's given you some comfortable nights of sleep. Thanks so much for supporting Zenbivy.
Our company name is Zenbivy. The Beds we make (Zenbivy Bed, Light Bed, MotoBed™) are all sleeping bags, designed to be used in a tent/under a shelter. I'm sure at some point in the future though we'll make a Zenbivy Bivy Sack!
