Introducing the Base Mattress — Reliably comfortable, warm, and durable, the Base Mattress is perfect for any car camping or backpacking trip, and is a great option if you’re upgrading from a closed cell mattress or buying your first camp pad.
The Base Mattress achieves an all-season, ultra-warm R5 with the same premium foam core found in our Flex Mattress and pairs it with a durable 75D Polyester Taffeta for a no-frills mattress that delivers. The Base Mattress is self-inflating, but for faster manual inflation you can pair it with an Inflation Dry Sack (not included). The smart reversible valve allows you to inflate it with ease, and dump air quickly when you’re ready to pack up and head home.
The Base mattress is everything you need, and nothing you don’t—a tried and true mattress that will give a good night’s sleep no matter where you are.
Inflation Dry Sack sold separately.
My Measurements: - Height: 6'3" (190.5 cm) - Weight: 215 lbs (97.5 kg) I got this mattress as part of the Core Bed 10° bundle. While everything else about the Core Bed is awesome (LOVE the Core Bed)... this sleeping pad isn't. It sleeps VERY hard. I'll give it that it's warm, but it's basically sleeping on the ground (makes it feel like less than a 5 R value as you are literally contacting the ground, but still warmer than just the ground). It also doesn't pack down quite as well. But... A potential positive is for kids. If you have a child under 100 lbs (45 kg) this pad would probably work fine for them. You can see my measurements above and this pad does NOT do it for me... not even close. For this reason, I'm giving it a 2 because it definitely would be a much cheaper option to get a warm pad for your child(ren). Another thing this pad would work for is if you had another pad which you love to sleep on and don't want to sleep on anything else and it's not a 3 or 4 season pad. You could put this pad under it to get that extra insulation from the ground at a cheaper cost than a new, more insulated pad you may not like sleeping on. Yes... not something you'd do in a backpacking situation (bringing two pads), but if you're car camping and just can't sleep on anything other than your favorite, less insulated pad... then this would work for that. I know, I know, not really very practical... but just trying to find positive things. Overall, if this pad is for you and you're a normal sized adult weighing over 100 lbs (45 kg) I would say to swap this pad out for the Light Mattress if you're wanting to stick with ZenBivy or go for another pad from another company. If you're looking for a pad for your younger child under 100 lbs (45 kg) that is warm and not as expensive, this could be that option.

Love Zenbivy but this mattress is too small and extremely hard.
